SPIRITUAL STABILITY

In the face of the increasing complexities of modern living, every Christian Scientist has a firm foundation on which to stand. He has an unerring standard from which to judge and interpret the conflicting events and discords of the day. He needs the highest type of mental stability to keep his head above the swirling waters and the dashing waves of error.

The method of establishing a clear sense of spiritual stability is hinted by the Psalmist, who said (Ps. 125:1), "They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever." To be safe and unmoved in a shifting and unstable world, we must build our house on a true understanding of God, Spirit, and of His perfect, spiritual creation as revealed in Christian Science.

Mary Baker Eddy writes (Unity of Good, p. 14), "God is not the shifting vane on the spire, but the corner-stone of living rock, firmer than everlasting hills." And she adds later: "What is in eternal Mind must be reflected in man, Mind's image. How then could man escape, or hope to escape, from a knowledge which is everlasting in his creator?" Anyone who builds his life on the true understanding of God, as revealed in Christian Science, stands eternally on the living rock of Truth unmoved by the testimony of material sense.
