It is with joy that I testify to the...
It is with joy that I testify to the efficacy of the healing power of Christian Science when faithfully applied. Some years ago I commenced to take alcoholic drinks as a relief from nervous tension. The habit grew to degrading proportions, bringing much misery and suffering, not only to myself but to my family. I found it possible to shake off this habit only for a while, after which I would again resort to it. I received loving help from practitioners at various times, and as I persisted in my study of Christian Science I finally experienced complete freedom from this pernicious habit, as well as from the nervous tension. This healing has been one of my greatest blessings, for it has brought unspeakable peace and happiness into my life.
I am grateful to the quiet friend who introduced me to Christian Science and tenderly guided my first footsteps in showing me how to study the wonderful weekly Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly at the commencement of each day. In his epistle to the Romans, Paul's charge reads in part (12:2), "Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind." Such an experience has been mine. My healing in Christian Science has awakened within me the genuine desire to help others and to experience the secret joy of humbly working for the well-being of all mankind in every nation.
This testimony would not fulfill its mission if I failed to express my loving appreciation for the tender care of The Mother Church, in which I hold the sacred privilege of membership, and for class instruction. For Christ Jesus and his glorious ministrations, for Mary Baker Eddy and her wonderful discovery, together with all that it signifies for the world, I am inexpressibly grateful to our Father-Mother God, who is Life, Truth, and Love. —Herbert Percy Dee, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
