The testimonies in the Christian Science...

The testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals have always meant much to me. In gratitude for the many that have helped and encouraged me, I should like to add my own.

During my senior year of college I became discouraged and unhappy. I felt there was nothing in life to which I could look forward. I had attended the Christian Science Sunday School until my high school days, and in the hope that this religion might help me, I took up its study again. A practitioner whom I went to see after my graduation from college said to me, "If you will devote half the time to the study of Christian Science that you spend on your human occupation, you will find treasures you never dreamed existed."

This statement I resolved to test, and during the following months I devoted a few hours each day to the systematic study of Christian Science. The practitioner's words were proved true: discouragement vanished, and a fresh sense of living dawned in my thought. I saw my opportunities as virtually unlimited, and I knew a keen sense of joy where meaningless misery had been before. There was also a physical healing at this time: an alarming ache in my spine, which had been getting worse, faded away.
