Obedience and Discipline

[From a teacher in a branch church Sunday School]

When I was assigned to a class of teen-age boys and girls, I found a severe discipline problem. There was lack of attention in class, and discourtesy was rampant. Prayerful work was done about the situation. As a result, it was revealed to me that one of the boys was entertaining a marked dislike of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. From time to time the mission of the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science had been explained to the class, but when this boy's attitude of thought became apparent. I gave the class a very comprehensive account of our Leader and of her work, which has blessed mankind so abundantly.

The following passage from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy (p.107) was read in class: "In the year 1866, I discovered the Christ Science or divine laws of Life, Truth, and Love, and named my discovery Christian Science. God had been graciously preparing me during many years for the reception of this final revelation of the absolute divine Principle of scientific mental healing."
