ASSURED ABUNDANCE

The concluding chapter of Second Kings relates that Jehoiachin, king of Judah, after his release from prison, was allotted by the king of Babylon a continual allowance, "a daily rate for every day, all the days of his life" (verse 30). This was indeed a splendid illustration of goodness expressed in generosity to a fellow being. With even more certainty the student of Christian Science learns to rely wholeheartedly on "the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy" (I Tim. 6:17). God does not give us just barely enough to get along on; He supplies us richly and abundantly.

Daily study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, together with the precious promises of the Bible, gives one the assurance that divine Mind forever pours out abundantly the true riches of intelligence, omnipotence, goodness, and that man is the constant recipient of divine Providence. These facts are made practical in one's human affairs proportionately to his understanding and acceptance of the real source of all goodness.

Jesus was so consciously at one with God, his divine source, that he was not deceived by the small supply of food which his disciples saw in the wilderness. And the material symbol appeared with such profusion that a multitude of five thousand had plenty to eat, and twelve baskets of fragments remained.
