ATMOSPHERE
A Necessity for the habit-ability of a planet is the presence of an atmosphere of suitable composition, because human, material life, so called, is dependent on such an atmosphere. From a material standpoint, atmosphere is considered as entirely physical. It may be dry or damp, hot or cold, clear or misty, healthy or unhealthy.
Christian Science declares that atmosphere cannot affect mankind adversely when one realizes that the real atmosphere is not material but spiritual. In order to prove this fact, however, we must understand the spiritual meaning of atmosphere and apply this knowledge to our human need.
God would not afflict His creation by placing it in an environment which would threaten life or be the cause of disease and suffering. The atmosphere created by Spirit must be like Spirit, therefore spiritual. There is no element of matter in God's atmosphere. His presence expresses the health-giving influence of divine Love, which blesses and happifies our experience.
