Over forty-five years ago

Over forty-five years ago I had my first healing in Christian Science. It was instantaneous and has been permanent. My testimony appeared in The Christian Science Journal for May, 1919. Since that time I have been healed of conditions which I believe would have been diagnosed as gallstones and an ulcerated stomach.

The first of these conditions caused me constant pain for about ten days, and I spent sleepless nights, sitting in a chair most of the time. However, I had proved God's power in my first healing, and as I held to the truth that God is always present and fills all space, the healing came.

The healing of the stomach trouble came in a short time. After boarding a train to attend my yearly association meeting, which was to be held in an eastern city, I became very ill with excruciating pains in my stomach. When we arrived at the city where we were to change trains, I asked a woman to wire a Christian Science practitioner for help. Then I lapsed into a coma that lasted for twenty-four hours. Although the attendants at the hotel where I had been taken thought that I would not recover, the disease and all of its symptoms vanished into their native nothingness.
