Each week when I open my copy...

Each week when I open my copy of the Sentinel, the first thing I do is turn to the testimonies. I get great comfort and encouragement from them, particularly if there are any that relate to problems I am trying to solve.

I am a speech teacher, and I travel over the state with my students who are attending tournaments in competitive speech. While they are performing, I find some quiet place and read an article from a current Sentinel, which is always in my purse. This reading helps me keep my thought off winning or losing.

In this connection I have received invaluable help from Mrs. Eddy's article "Fidelity" in "Miscellaneous Writings." On page 339 she says: "Experience is victor, never the vanquished; and out of defeat comes the secret of victory. That to-morrow starts from to-day and is one day beyond it, robes the future with hope's rainbow hues." This thought frees my mind from resentment in case of loss and aids me in helping my students to realize that winning or losing is not the important thing in their experience.
