Activities for the Armed Services

Within a radius of seventy-five miles of San Diego, California, there are fifteen armed forces installations. Most of these belong to the Navy and to the Marines. In addition to the large numbers of service personnel in these installations, which include camps, hospitals, training stations, and air fields, there are on board Navy ships many transients who visit San Diego for short periods.

At the present time Christian Science Activities for the Armed Services has in the San Diego area two Christian Science Ministers for the Armed Services and a Christian Scientist who is serving as a Navy Chaplain. These three men contact the Christian Science service personnel, give free Christian Science treatment to those desiring it, and distribute Christian Science literature. During the last twelve months they have given away over two hundred of the Service Edition sets of the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. On Sundays they conduct three Christian Science church services and one Sunday School, while each week they hold four midweek meetings in armed forces installations.
