RADIO PROGRAM No. 223 - The True Source of Joy

Speaker: Our guest is a girl who spent over a year in Labrador working at a nondenominational mission. She had some severe testing times, and I know her experience will bring to all of us a deeper sense of the quiet joy and love that really go with Christmas. Now here is Miss Joan Bathelt of Glendale, California.

Joan, suppose you tell us the circumstances you faced when you got to Labrador.

Miss Bathelt: The whole situation was very strange and new to me. I had studied to be a social worker, and this was my first job after graduating. I wanted to see the country and help a little if I could; so I took a job as an assistant at a mission there. For the first time I was separated from all the things I'd always considered important— social life, home, family, church, friends.
