DESTROYING SIN AND SICKNESS

Throughout the world the reformation of sin and the healing of sickness are of major importance. Many are training for the ministry to help combat evil. Many more are graduated from medical schools each year, trained to diagnose disease and to relieve suffering. Both theological and medical schools assume the reality of sin and sickness.

Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, knew the unreality of both sin and sickness. He proved them unreal by destroying them. He destroyed both sin and sickness by utilizing the same metaphysical law that is used in Christian Science healing today.

The world generally associates sin with the devil, or evil, but does not readily connect sickness in the same way. Christ Jesus recognized that sickness and sin come from the same source, the devil, which he condemned as "a liar, and the father of it" (John 8:44). Jesus apparently considered all types of sickness as evil. Regarding Simon's wife's mother, Luke tells us that Jesus "stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her" (4: 39). What conclusion is there to be drawn other than that Jesus was rebuking—destroying—the devil, evil, cloaked in the guise of sickness?
