THE HOLY THINGS OF GOD

In the Old Testament are a number of references to holy things received by Levitical priests to be offered to God. The twenty-second chapter of Leviticus contains detailed instructions pertaining to "the holy things" and particularly emphasizes the necessity for cleanliness on the part of those who handled them.

What are the holy things of God as beheld in the light of Christian Science? They are not material offerings, as in the case of the Levitical priests, but spiritual ideas of God, impartations of divine Mind to man. We can partake of the holy things of God only when we have made ourselves spiritually ready to do so through true purification. Then we can receive the spiritual ideas and the joy, peace, inspiration, and harmony that await us.

The holy things of God, or spiritual ideas which emanate from divine Mind, are the most precious in human experience. Their value exceeds any material treasure that can be bestowed on us, for they bless and happify our whole existence. In time of difficulty they enlighten and aid us; in time of sorrow they comfort us; in time of illness they strengthen and heal us. We can call upon them in unlimited measure at any moment we desire, and the exigency confronting us is never too great for them. The holy things of God are mankind's only salvation from its myriad burdens of sin, suffering, and despair. They are, to fearful mortal thought, what sunlight is to a darkened room.
