"Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,—neither in nor of matter,—and the body will then utter no complaints. If suffering from a belief in sickness, you will find yourself suddenly well." These illuminating and arresting statements by Mary Baker Eddy on page 14 of her wonderful book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" instantaneously healed me of what would probably have been diagnosed as a case of acute appendicitis.

I will always be grateful to a good friend of the family for introducing Christian Science to me in my hour of need. Even though I understood little of what I read in Science and Health, when I came to the above statement, the complete healing took place. I was left with a most wonderful feeling of uplifted consciousness, which I was able to retain for almost a year.

During this time it was easy for me to think only good and loving thoughts. But due to lack of understanding of how to keep this very desirable condition of thought, I did not retain it. After making some spiritual growth in Christian Science, I now understand why this mental state can and must be held to unwaveringly. I am happy to say that my spiritual progress has been steady and that there has been no return of the symptoms of appendicitis in the twenty-nine years since my healing took place.
