ARISE IMMEDIATELY
Mark 2:11, 12
The
sick man, in self-pity,
might have said,
"Tomorrow is another day."
Easier to put it off, easier to say
than do at once,
as if the mere half-wish to stand
accompanied the fact!
Instead,
tomorrow reaps what now has planted,
and the dawn that beams
upon the present understanding
is far beyond the reach of solar time.
The light-conferring instant needs no sensuous sun,
and willingness no other proof than duty done.
