Since 1913, I have depended on Christian Science, and my children have known no other religion. In 1928, just before the depression, my husband passed on, and I found myself without means and with three children dependent on me for support. I had never worked and had had no business training. To make my problem more difficult, when I applied for life insurance, feeling that it was my duty to carry insurance for the protection of my children, I was refused the insurance on the basis of a heart condition and was informed that I was not strong enough to work. There appeared to be no possible solution.

I am very grateful for the loving help of a Christian Science practitioner during this trying period. I was led to a temporary means of support. When that was no longer suitable, another means appeared. When the way was black, I would find some short reference from the Bible or from Mrs. Eddy's writings and hold it in thought as I went about my work. I was led each step of the way, and gradually I built up a regular business of my own.

My physical condition improved, and for many years now I have enjoyed excellent health. When my children grew up and became independent, I was led to dispose of my business in a manner which helped all concerned and which enabled me to establish myself in a home of my own.
