"FEAR NOT"

One of the earliest revelations of the true nature of God was received by the patriarch Abram. In the fifteenth chapter of Genesis we find these momentous words: "Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward." Throughout the Bible, freedom from fear is linked with the presence of God, understood. Christ Jesus said for the benefit of all men (Luke 12: 32), "Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." And Jesus showed that God is Love by proving the Father's will for man to be purity and health, security, supply, and indestructible life.

Christian Science provides the intelligent means for ridding oneself of fear. It reveals the truth that God, Spirit, is All and that the real man, made in the likeness of Spirit, has no consciousness of matter and evil—those elements which provoke fear, from the slightest anxiety to the most abject terror.

Starting with Spirit's allness, Science logically calls for the recognition of the unreality of the mortal sense of life, in which man is believed to live precariously in frail flesh and to be subject to pain and destruction. One can readily grasp the reasonableness of Science, which points out that the entire action and sensation of the body are in material consciousness and not in the flesh. For the body, deserted by thought in death, has neither action nor sensation. The animation and sensation come always from the mind, never from matter. Sensation in flesh is nothing more than suggestion, illusion, supposition.
