So much publicity is being given to the disease called muscular dystrophy that I would like to tell about our son's healing of it in Christian Science. When he was two years of age, he suddenly became ill. He had been a very playful child, but now he no longer wanted to play; and he gradually ceased walking.

My husband, not being a Christian Scientist, felt it was unfair to him and to the child for me not to consent to medical help; so our son was taken to a physician. However, under his care the child continued to grow worse and became unable even to sit in a high chair without being tied in position. The doctor became alarmed and recommended our taking him to a hospital for observation and various tests.

My husband then changed to another doctor, but after a complete physical examination, he too told us that it was imperative that we place the child in the hospital, and he recommended a large, well-known clinic. After two weeks of observation and tests there, doctors informed us that our son had muscular dystrophy, for which they frankly admitted that medical science had no cure. A leading neurologist was brought here to examine the boy, and he too confirmed the diagnosis. He was very kind and advised my husband to stop going from doctor to doctor, because he was simply wasting money on something for which there was no known cure.
