"Let the redeemed of the Lord...

"Let the redeemed of the Lord say so" (Ps. 107:2). It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I testify to the healing and regenerating power of Christian Science. My search for a happier and more stable world was brought about by material losses, by the breakup of the family home whilst I was still at school, and by World War II.

For some years I relied upon other persons and my own will power to see me through my difficulties, since I had lost faith in God. Because nothing I attempted ever went right, I believed there was some sort of curse upon me. Consequently, I was unhappy and dreaded each new day. I was so gripped by fear that at times my throat would close.

I was near a nervous breakdown, and it was at this stage that I decided to turn in prayer to God. Shortly afterward Christian Science was presented to me. I purchased a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy and began to study it. Although I understood little of what I read, the wonderful explanation of God, by means of the seven synonyms on page 465 and the repeated references to God as good, the only creator, who neither creates nor knows evil, stood out like a beacon. To seek the kingdom of God first, became my humble endeavor.
