THE AWAKENED

When Jacob wakened from deep sleepHe rose up, and he knew that whereThe angels' ladder made its steepAscent to heaven, God was there.

When each awakens, lifts his headFrom stony pillows, Love's embraceIs felt. He says, as Jacob said,"Surely the Lord is in this place."
