Many years ago my father became interested in Christian Science. I did not share this interest, however, and determined to follow a medical career. While I was in the medical field, I contracted scarlet fever, and my case became very serious. One day the doctor told me that if I did not continue to take the special pills which he had prescribed, there would be no hope for me; but I had lost all faith in the pills and in their power to cure me.
That evening I asked my father if he would pray for me. He assured me that he would, and with this assurance I fell asleep. When I awoke the next morning the high fever had subsided, and I improved so rapidly that by evening I was able to get out of bed.
Although I was grateful for this healing, I returned to my work as a surgical nurse. As I continued in this work, I saw cases in which men, women, and children were healed through Christian Science after medicine had failed to help them. Then one day the time arrived when I had to make a decision. I was suffering from a nervous condition that had not yielded to medical treatment. I knew a Christian Science practitioner, whom I had met in connection with several maternity cases, and I went to her office to see her.
