When Christian Science was presented to me, I was going through deep waters. I felt alone and without hope for the future. Nevertheless, the hand of God was present to guide me, to help me, and to lift me from the despair into which f had fallen. It did this by acquainting me with Christian Science.

I had no home and was gravely in need of a place in which to live. Very harmonious quarters were soon provided for me. Among the members of the branch Church of Christ. Scientist, which I attended and of which I am now a member, I found much kindness, love, and encouragement. Their friendship was a great comfort to me.

Through the study of Christian Science I have been healed of sore throat, from which I had suffered before knowing the truth, and I have been divinely protected. Among other instances of protection I should like to mention the following one. While boiling some water for the laundry, I heard several explosions and saw that the gas pipe of the stove was in flames. Immediately and without any fright, I closed the stopcock before the danger had time to grow worse. During that morning I had been thinking of Mrs. Eddy's hymn, "The Mother's Evening Prayer" (Poems, p. 4). This had made me particularly conscious of the omnipresence of God; so I was free from fear at the time of the emergency.

I could relate other demonstrations of the tender care of divine Love; for instance, the experience of recovering a wrist watch which had fallen from my wrist to the sidewalk of a very busy street. When I noticed this loss I retraced my steps with the firm conviction that what was mine could not be taken from me. I had the joy of finding the watch lying intact on the sidewalk, where many people had passed by. This experience brought renewed assurance to me that God takes care of His children and of all His creation.

I am deeply grateful to Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and to Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. Through their teachings we are learning to know God, and we find an invaluable support from Truth in the time of trial. I have been able to prove these words of our Leader, Mrs. Eddy (Science and Health, p. 494): "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."
