For the many blessings and for...

For the many blessings and for the happiness Christian Science has unfolded in my life, I am sincerely grateful. The following healing is especially dear to me as it was an indication of God's unfailing care for His children. It proved the Bible words to be true (I Cor. 10: 13), "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."

While our daughter was at a summer camp, she became ill and was sent to the nearest hospital, where her case was diagnosed as advanced lobar pneumonia and the beginning stages of spinal meningitis. I had joined my daughter, and now I telephoned to a Christian Science practitioner, of whom I had requested help, and told her of my daughter's condition. Then I told the hospital staff that I wanted to take the child home. They reluctantly agreed to release her on my responsibility.

I took the child to the nearest large city. There I expected to meet my husband, to whom I had sent a message, asking him to wait for us at the airport. Throughout our ride to this city I recalled hymn after hymn from the Christian Science Hymnal and sang them aloud with all the conviction their words inspired. Upon arriving, I found that the message to have my husband wait at this city's airport had been lost. This discovery was a great blow, as I felt that the burden of responsibility was too much for me to carry alone. I went into a telephone booth to try to locate my husband by telephone, but was unable to do so. Truly God does not desert us. At that moment an attendant came and informed me that my husband was on another line calling me.
