Christian Science proved a valuable...

Christian Science proved a valuable aid to me when I entered the United States Army. The erroneous suggestion that my period of service would be two wasted Years was quickly destroyed. Instead, these years have proved to be harmonious and progressive ones, providing many opportunities to prove the truths of Christian Science.

On entering the service I felt pressed for time, but I always put the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly first and found time to study it. At first I was placed in work for which I felt unqualified, but I held to the thought that man is governed by God. Soon I was sent to a part of the world I had always wanted to see and was placed in work for which my college training had prepared me. But more important, there was time for proper study of the lesson and of our Christian Science periodicals.

One evening while on duty away from my quarters I was awakened out of a sound sleep with a feeling that something was wrong. I was led to work for the protection of my possessions, as there had been several robberies in our area. I declared the truth that God created man upright and that man could be deprived of nothing that was rightfully his. The next morning on returning to my quarters, I learned that a tent several yards from ours had been entered during the night, but nothing of value had been taken. Our tent had not been touched. I am very grateful for this proof of God's care.
