RIGHT THOUGHTS PROTECT US

[Of Special Interest to Children]

For as long as Douglas and his brother could remember, they had been taught that if they were thinking the right thoughts and doing the right thing at the right time, they would be safe. They proved this to be true many times at school when they were learning, as they put it, to stand on their own feet. There were one hundred and fifty children in the school they attended in the suburb of a city, but they were the only Christian Scientists.

Douglas had always liked to run. If asked why, he would say that he ran "just to be running, because it is such fun!" He would often ask someone to time him as he ran around the block, to see if today's record bettered the previous one.

So when he became a boy scout he very much enjoyed the relay races. The scout meetings were held at the school, and a young man whom all the boys liked was the scoutmaster.
