WE ARE NOT ALL IN THE SAME BOAT

A Statement often heard is: "Well, we are all in the same boat." This sometimes implies a state of resignation to affairs as they appear to be because of helplessness to improve them. It is what might be termed a grin-and-bear-it attitude. But this is not the teaching of Christ Jesus or of Christian Science. Our Master said (Luke 10:19), "Behold, I give unto you power ... over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." This is a clear, definite statement that man is endowed with the ability to be the victor, not the victim.

Some of the enemies which try to disturb, disrupt, and destroy our well-being are the mental qualities of fear, hate, insecurity, lack, rivalry, and the like. If we accept these false thoughts into our consciousness, we are believing in a power apart from God, a mind separate from the one infinite Mind; and these erroneous beliefs are bound to be manifested in our lives.

Now we can rout out these antagonistic qualities of the so-called carnal mind and replace them with the understanding that actually there is but one Mind, God. "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord" (Deut. 6:4). This Mind, being All, has no unlikeness, and Mind has expression in such qualities as confidence, trust, love, peace, joy, security, abundance, and health.
