BENEDICTION

Deuteronomy 32:2, II Samuel 23:4

Even as small rain upon the tender herb
So gently, surely comes the love of God.
And, coming, brings refreshment to the heart,
Even as the rain refreshes leaf and sod,
Even as the small, the gently falling rain.

And as the sun's clear shining after rain
Sets glowing every blade of grass and flower
And draws deep fragrance from the tranquil ground,
So God's love shines upon us every hour,
Even as the sun's clear shining after rain.

So is our strength renewed from day to day
By heavenly benedictions whose release
God faultlessly decrees, even as the rain
Strengthens earth to yield its rich increase,
Even as the small, the gently falling rain.
