IN GOD'S PRESENCE

One of the fundamental facts of being which Christian Science teaches is that the real man, the true individuality of each one of us, is now and forever inseparable from his Maker. Man is never for a moment outside of God's presence. Mortals, however, believe themselves to be in the presence of some inharmonious condition or experience. They think of themselves as in trouble, in pain, in poor health, in a temper, as unhappy, and so on.

These conditions, however, are not the truth of being. They are errors which result from the belief that man is a material entity separated from his divine source; that he is subject to self-concern, to personal likes and dislikes, to man-made laws of sin and disease, to dispositional traits. These beliefs are untrue because they have no divine authority. They have no presence, because infinite good fills all space and is indeed all-presence.

God is infinite consciousness. Man is idea, reflecting all that Mind knows and is and showing forth the inseparability of Mind and its ideas. Hence man can witness only to perfect health and continuity of existence. Since God is Truth, man witnesses to integrity, strength, freedom; since God is Love, man can witness only to happiness, joy, and loving-kindness. Man is ever God's beloved son. The man of God's creating never expresses anything unlike his Father. The reflection must always express the completeness of the original. As one recognizes man's unity with God he becomes conscious of perfect being, untouched by imperfect material beliefs or concepts of physicality.
