Every day I thank God, our...
Every day I thank God, our Father-Mother, for leading me into the truth as taught in Christian Science, the revelation of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. I have had some beautiful healings through the application of the truth, either by the work of a Christian Science practitioner or my own work. A sprained ankle was instantaneously healed while I was on my way to work just by my repeating and pondering "the scientific statement of being," given on page 468 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.
Extreme nervousness, so intense after my discharge from the Army that I could not ride in any sort of vehicle, was also healed. However, the healing which impressed me the most and for which I am the most grateful was the first one I had in Christian Science. Going to the basement, I stepped on a rusty nail, which penetrated my house slipper and the sole of my foot. At first the pain was extreme, but through the prayerful help of my mother-in-law, I was soon more comfortable. She was more alert than I to know the truth about the situation, for I was new in Christian Science. Previous to this I would have used medication, but as she declared the truth, I merely washed my foot, put on my socks and shoes, and then went out to walk some distance to do some necessary shopping. That was the end of the difficulty.
I wish to express my gratitude that Mrs. Eddy gave us the scientific and demonstrable religion practiced by Christ Jesus in proving that divine Lover governs man and the universe. I am also grateful for our periodicals, our practitioners, and our Reading Rooms. I humbly offer my gratitude for the privilege of serving as pianist in our Sunday School, for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, and for the sacred privilege of class instruction.—Adolph Lippel, Chicago, Illinois.
