When I was a child my mother,...

When I was a child my mother, who had been delicate as a voting girl and had been a semi-invalid since the birth of her last child, was restored to an active and useful life by Christian Science treatment. She remained a stanch adherent of Science all her years, which extended beyond the century mark, and was free from many limitations attached to advancing age.

I am grateful for the privilege of attendance at a Christian Science Sunday School and for familiarity with the teachings of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. These truths have been precious in caring for our family of five children and maintaining a happy and harmonious home. I am grateful that our children are also students of Science. We have had many proofs of its healing power in overcoming so-called children's diseases, colds, and the results of accidents. In addition, we have been guided in the solution of many problems, including those which arose while our young people were serving in the armed forces.

When a young woman I was healed of severe and recurrent attacks of tonsillitis. After more than twenty years of freedom, I had a violent attack of this illness about six years ago. I knew that I had been indulging in some hurt and angry thinking. The practitioner who gave me loving help turned my thought to Mrs. Eddy's hymn beginning, "Saw ye my Saviour?" (Poems, p. 75.) With my permission one of our sons, distressed over my condition, went to see the practitioner. While they were talking many miles away, the abscess that had formed in my throat discharged, and I indeed felt the power of the Word which Christ Jesus taught. I received a speedy and permanent healing.
