ETERNITY, NOT TIME

The minutes of mortality
That seem to drag or fly away—
These measurements of time are false;
They have no part within God’s day.

For error's calculations fail.
And earth's conjectures only mock.
Man in God's image is not chained
To earth-bound calendar and clock.

The specter of the fading year,
Of waning moon or setting sun,
Each withered leaf and aging branch—
From mortal mist these dreams are spun.

For perfect man, beloved of God,
Awaits no dawn through shadows gray,
But dwells forever in the light
Of God's eternal, radiant day.
