I am very grateful for the Christian Science religious periodicals. Here are to be found not only experiences of unseen friends that comfort and sustain us when the clouds of material sense are heavy, but also clear, practical articles and editorials which help to meet our needs. For all of those whose loving efforts make these periodicals available to yearning humanity, I wish to give thanks.

My gratitude motivates me to send in my testimony of the way in which Christian Science has blessed me and mine. Over twenty years ago I was seeking relief from what a medical specialist had diagnosed as sinus trouble. The doctor regretfully told me that there was nothing more that he could do to relieve the pain. Various drugs and different kinds of treatment had been employed to no avail.

Then a friend, who had attended Christian Science Sunday School, recommended that I call a practitioner. Willing to try anything that offered release from pain, I did as she said. The practitioner asked me to cease using drugs. This I was willing to do, because they had lost all efficacy to help me. Then she sent me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy and asked me to read the first chapter, "Prayer." It seemed like a foreign language to me at first, but with my husband's help I was able to see a faint gleam of Truth. That night I slept well for the first time in several weeks. In the morning I awoke perfectly free from pain. More important, I felt a consciousness of peace within me that I had never before experienced.
