THE POWER AND PROOF OF THE CHRIST

As we understand the nature of the Christ, we find it manifests the beauty, excellence, and health, or holiness, of divine perfection. Indeed, it brings out all the hues of Deity. Mary Baker Eddy defines the word "Christ" on page 583 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" as, "The divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error."

In Christian Science, God is defined in seven synonymous terms, namely Life, Truth, Love, Spirit, Soul, Mind, Principle. As white light, when passed through a prism, is seen to include the seven colors of the spectrum, so the Christ, the divine manifestation of God, includes all the hues of Deity. There is not a single aspect of God which the Christ does not manifest.

The Christ expresses the divine nature of God, and this manifestation is seen in God's image and likeness, man. The Christ presents the truth concerning God and the truth concerning man. Mortals have attempted to personalize the qualities to be found in the divine character, but this has often resulted in an attitude of self-righteousness, whereas no good exists except in the perfect Mind and in Christ, Mind's perfect manifestation.
