I am so humbly grateful to God...

I am so humbly grateful to God for Christian Science that I cannot put off expressing my gratitude any longer. I came into Christian Science when our oldest son was four. One morning he awoke quite well, but by noon he had an alarming fever, and could not stand up or move his head without pain. I was filled with fear as I rushed him to the hospital.

The doctors gave him no medication, however, because they could not determine just what was wrong or what to do. When the child had been there for two days, I knew something had to be done for him, since he appeared to be passing on. Then I remembered that I had heard of Christian Science practitioners, who help others through prayer, and I told my husband that I must find one.

We located a practitioner in the next town, and I went to visit her. How wonderful it was to hear her loving, comforting words, telling me of God's love for His children. She said that God is our Life and that He is always caring for each one of us. She helped me to realize that it was my fear which must be dispelled. And when I left, I knew that God was taking care of our little boy. My fear was gone, and I felt as though a heavy burden had been lifted from me.

The next morning before I was up, one of the doctors called to say our son was all right and could be taken home. The doctors could not explain the disease or the sudden healing. But I knew that it was Truth that had brought about this instantaneous healing. It certainly is true that "the word of God is quick, and powerful," as the Bible tells us (Hebr. 4:12).

Of course, after this healing I decided to study Christian Science. As I persisted in studying the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's works I began to understand more of the truth each day. And one by one rich blessings unfolded. Up to this time I had been quite unhappy with our home life. We were living in the country in cramped quarters, I had no friends, and when my husband arrived home late in the evening from work he was too tired to be companionable. Then we found a lovely apartment in the town where my husband worked. I was able to attend a Church of Christ, Scientist, there and also to make many new friends. Our whole experience improved, and I became happy and contented. Two of our children were born under Christian Science treatment, and their births were completely harmonious.

I could go on and on telling of many healings and other blessings experienced by our five children, my husband, and myself since I took up the study of this wonderful, demonstrable religion. It is through the clearer understanding of God which I gained in the study and practice of Christian Science that these blessings have come. I am particularly grateful for class instruction. Until a week before the class began, for various reasons it appeared that I would not be able to attend. However, I continued to put my trust in God, and suddenly the way unfolded beautifully. I cannot imagine trying to live without Christian Science. My humble prayer is that my life may attest my gratitude to God for our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, and for our Leader, Mrs. Eddy.—(Mrs.) Mary-Louise Collins, Claremont, New Hampshire.
