In great humility I give praise...

In great humility I give praise to God for His omnipotent care, for His instruction and promises contained in the Bible, for the great example of Christ Jesus, and for the revelation of Christian Science by Mrs. Eddy.

As a child I attended the Christian Science Sunday School. When a great decision was to be made in my life, I turned unreservedly to Christian Science for help, and it was received. Since that time my path has been upward, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, but ever progressing. Through Christian Science I have been healed of indigestion, sinus trouble, constipation, and the need of wearing glasses, which I had been told I would always have to wear at my work. Grief and loneliness were overcome following the passing of three close relatives, who lived with me.

I should like to tell of a healing of influenza. I work at night, and one Saturday evening while at work I suffered an attack of influenza. Although I tried to clear my thoughts, I was not able to accomplish the desired result. When I reached home after work, I was quite ill. The thought came to call a practitioner, but I did not want to disturb one, as it was very early in the morning. I sat up in bed with the Bible, Mrs. Eddy's writings, and the Concordances, trying to do prayerful work. Soon I fell asleep, and I awakened at four thirty o'clock in the morning.

As I was still very ill, I decided to call for help from a practitioner. During our conversation I told her I was fearful that I would not be in my appointed place that morning as Second Reader in a Church of Christ, Scientist. As I walked away from the telephone I felt the healing Christ at work, and the fever from which I had been suffering; completely left me. When I got into bed, the words from a hymn came to me (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 135):

I know no life divided,
O Lord of life, from Thee;
In Thee is life provided
For all mankind and me.

I had not previously realized that I knew these words, so I looked them up in the Hymnal to see if they were correct. I found them to he so, and with tears of joy and gratitude I sang the hymn. Need-less to say, I was at my post at church with no sign of influenza. In discussing the healing with the practitioner later, I learned that at the time the words of the hymn had come to me these words from another hymn had come to her (ibid., No. 202): "O captive, rise and sing, for thou art free."

I am most grateful to be a member of The Mother Church and a branch church, as well as a class-taught student of Christian Science. It is my prayer that my life may be a living example of gratitude for what Science has done for me.—(Miss) Lucille H. Robinson, Los Angeles, California.
