Gratitude for the blessings I have...

Gratitude for the blessings I have received and the desire to help others as I have been helped prompt me to lend encouragement to those seeking healing in Christian Science. My first healing in this Science was of the smoking habit. Many unlovely traits of character were overcome, and I began to grow in spiritual understanding, grasping something of the meaning of Jesus' question (Matt. 7:3), "Why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?"

Christian Science sustained me at the passing of my husband, giving me courage and inspiration in hours of trial. Later, through the compassionate help of a practitioner, it sustained me when financial experiences seemed overwhelming. I was told to observe Jesus' words (Matt. 6:33), "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." So-called material laws were reversed, and I was able to rent an apartment and establish a successful business. I shall always be grateful to the practitioner who aided me in claiming the good God gives.

Some time ago I suffered from severe pains in my chest. When I cast out self-pity and all the other undesirable members of the "self' family, the pains left me. I learned that I had suffered not because of a material condition, but because of feeling sorry for myself. It was a grand awakening to realize that all I needed was a change of thought.
