Christian Science has been the...

Christian Science has been the most wonderful thing in my life, and I do not know what I would do without it. Just before my mother's passing I was prompted to stop in front of a Christian Science Reading Room, where I read a portion of the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, including the words (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 287), "All creations of Spirit are eternal." This thought stood out to me and sustained me at the time of my mother's passing so that I rose above sorrow. After that I began attending regularly a Church of Christ, Scientist.

When my father remarried and acted indifferently toward me, I manifested a very strong resentment toward him. I decided to leave home and go to California. There I paid my first visit to a Christian Science practitioner. I felt so uplifted from that time on that the resentment toward my father was eliminated, and his actions became more loving as my concept of him improved. For this I am most grateful.

I have had various other healings, one of which occurred about a week before my marriage. During a relief period at my office I went on an errand down the street. It had rained slightly, and the sidewalks were rather slippery. In hurrying I slipped and struck my face against a building, cutting my check, which began to pain and bleed. Immediately I silently repeated "the scientific statement of being" (ibid., p. 468). As I went back to my office I tried to know the truth of man and his perfection, but the condition was such that I thought it wise to go home. My employer took me to my home, where I rested and did some prayerful work.
