I have for many years enjoyed...
I have for many years enjoyed the blessings that have come to me through the study and application of Christian Science, and I think that it is time to make a public acknowledgment of them. More than forty years ago my attention was called to this Science through the healing of a member of my family of a physical disorder. This difficulty had been a source of much discomfort for several years, and medical help had not relieved it. A short time after this I requested a practitioner to give me some help in overcoming an ulcerated tooth and a sense of mental confusion. These conditions were very quickly corrected, and I was also healed of the smoking habit. My study of Christian Science has been continued since that time, though more earnestly during the past thirteen years following class instruction.
A position which required constant traveling, both by railroad and by automobile, was mine from 1929 to 1948. A 100 per cent no-accident record was enjoyed during that period, and a wonderful sense of God's protecting power has been experienced for many years.
I have received many healings, for which I shall never cease to be grateful to God, as well as to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for her revelation of Christian Science. These healings include among others those of a wrenched back, food poisoning, and sunstroke. A severe skin irritation was healed when I overcame a sense of resentment toward my superior.
Fear of unemployment and lack yielded while I was attending a Christian Science lecture. I had just been released from a very good position because of a temporary financial panic. The second day after the lecture I secured another position, which proved to be a much better connection than the old one as far as my future advancement was concerned. A sense of adequate supply has been with me during the many years since then.
Glasses, which I had used since school days, were laid aside when the mortal belief that had kept me in bondage to them was denied with a citation in one of our weekly Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly (Prov. 20:12): "The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the Lord hath made even both of them." The study of this citation and the study of the many references in Mrs. Eddy's writings regarding eyes and ears helped me to demonstrate my freedom.
Membership in The Mother Church, activity in a branch church, and many other blessings have been mine as the result of my expressing gratitude and desiring to help others to gain freedom from the bondage of the belief of life in the body.—Robert S. Neal, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
