Three words of truth spoken by...

Three words of truth spoken by a friend changed the lives of our family of four. My wife, daughter, and small son were under the care of physicians and in bondage to various types of medication. Allergies to trees, grass, roses, ragweed, animals, and so on were very prevalent.

One day at a luncheon table, where I had been accustomed to meet with a group of businessmen, one of my friends noticed my worried look and asked if all were well. I told him that I was at a complete loss as to what to do for my family's allergies, since the most prominent specialists had not effected a cure. The friend answered, "Allergies are mental." This was the remark that changed our lives. It flashed in my thought like a neon light, so weary was I of having my family sent from doctor to doctor over such a long time. When I asked my friend how he had arrived at such a profound conclusion and told him that I should like to learn more about the basis of his remark, he invited me to attend a Church of Christ, Scientist.

My first visit there with my wife was one I shall never forget. Much to my surprise, the First Reader was another member of my businessmen's luncheon group. After the service we asked him many questions, and he lovingly invited us to his home for a talk. We began at once an earnest study of Christian Science, and the various difficulties from which my wife and children were suffering all disappeared. I was healed of the smoking habit of thirty years' standing and of social drinking. Both our children started attending the Christian Science Sunday School, and my wife and I became members of a branch church. Peace, health, happiness, and harmony reigned where fear, sickness, nervous tension, and discord had formerly been.
