MAN'S RIGHT PLACE

How encouraging it is to know that man is in his right place! Man occupies his right place in Mind because he is an individualized reflection, a distinct idea, of Mind, God, and divine wisdom sustains man in his place. One cognizes place in the realm of spiritual existence by discovering his true selfhood to be an eternal, unchanging, indestructible, perfect manifestation of God, omnipotent Love. That which does not exist in the infinitude of Spirit's realm has no place. Jesus' comforting words to his disciples (John 14:1,2), "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you," indicate the immortal nature of man's place.

Christian Science also affirms man's right place to be in God's presence and goodness. Our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, emphasizes the good effects of understanding this spiritual fact in her volume "Pulpit and Press," where she writes (p. 3): "Our surety is in our confidence that we are indeed dwellers in Truth and Love, man's eternal mansion. Such a heavenly assurance ends all warfare, and bids tumult cease, for the good fight we have waged is over, and divine Love gives us the true sense of victory."

Divine Love meets the need for a more harmonious place when one awakens to his true being and its abiding place. This awakening coincides with the acceptance of the Christ-consciousness, which is ever mindful of the Father's house. The fact that God fills all space leaves no place for His absence or for the opposition of evil, error, or matter; thus one's wholehearted agreement with Love's omnipresence allows no fear of failure, poverty, loneliness, lack, and restriction. Such witnesses to inharmony have no real place, because Love's reflection is the truth of being, everywhere! When this Christ-idea is discerned more clearly, its occupancy of thought is objectified in fruitful activity, happy homes, and satisfying companionships.
