I am most grateful to God for...

I am most grateful to God for the love, peace, health, and supply which I have received through the study and application of Christian Science.

This Science was presented to me seven years ago, when I was in quite a fearful state of mind and unable to work. At this time a relative handed me a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and asked me if I would like to read it. After reading the first chapter I knew that I had found God and the answer to all my problems. When I had finished reading the book, my health was very much improved, and I returned to work. Christian Science has been my only physician ever since.

Through consistent study of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, reading the periodicals, and regular attendance at church I learned that to see the perfection of God and His idea, man, prevents disease as well as cures it. As a result of looking for the spiritual meaning Mrs. Eddy gives of different words, I have received much light in understanding the Scriptures.

The following is an experience for which I am very grateful. In answering advertisements for employment I had met with no success because of restrictions in regard to age. On the fifth day of my search for a position I returned home tired and a little fearful, but not willing to accept a material so-called law of age as final. I opened Science and Health to page 445, and my eyes fell on these words: "Christian Science silences human will, quiets fear with Truth and Love, and illustrates the unlabored motion of the divine energy in healing the sick." I then studied the one hundred and twenty-first Psalm and worked to know that God is man's real employer, that there is no age, and that man can know no demotion, only progress.

After this I checked the local newspaper for any new advertisements that I might answer the following day. My attention was drawn to one, and I wrote down the telephone number. The following morning when I telephoned, I dialed the number as I had written it down. To my surprise the person answering said that his office had placed no advertisement in the paper, but that it was in need of help, and he asked me to come in and talk with him. I did this as soon as possible and was glad to learn that no age limit was observed; also that I could start work the following week at a larger salary than I had previously received. When I returned home, I rechecked the telephone number I had taken from the newspaper to see if I had copied it correctly. I then saw that I had dialed a number different from the one given in the advertisement; thus I had been guided in a way I could not have foreseen.

I am grateful to God for Christ Jesus, who taught and demonstrated the truth, and for our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has revealed that truth anew to this age.—(Mrs.) Edna R. Grobben, Des Moines, Iowa.
