It has been my desire for some...
It has been my desire for some period of time to submit my grateful testimony of healing, acknowledging my debt to divine Love. I count among my greatest blessings the way I was led to a Church of Christ, Scientist, when as yet I knew nothing about this wonderful religion.
The Bible says (Matt. 5:6), "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled." I was at this point of spiritual hunger, since the teachings of an orthodox church had not supplied the spiritual truth I was searching for.
My son was a very young child, and I desired to have him in a Sunday School which would allow me to attend church at the same time. I set out Sunday after Sunday to visit churches of different denominations. Each time I would return home still unsatisfied. After exhausting my list of orthodox churches I was led to visit a Christian Science church. Instantly upon reaching the church auditorium I knew I was in the place I had been seeking. To see the love expressed and the joy evidenced by those serving was a wonderful experience. The following Sunday I enrolled my two-year-old son in the Sunday School.
A very short time afterward I had the opportunity of witnessing the healing power of divine Love in my behalf. My feet became inflamed with athlete's foot, and in spite of months of very painful medical treatment the condition grew steadily worse. The medical specialist treating the case could give me no hope and said that even if he were successful in bringing me relief, the disease would reappear every year because of the advanced stage it had reached. I was completely unable to walk about or wear regular footwear.
"Man's extremity is God's opportunity." At this point a friend told me of Christian Science practitioners and the work they do. Not knowing what to expect, but deciding that I could not be in a much worse condition, I called for help. To those who witnessed the change of evidence it was a miracle. As were the recipients of Christ Jesus' healing work, so in this instance, I was "restored whole." The next day and ever since that time, nineteen years ago, I have never had even a suggestion of a return of athlete's foot. It was completely healed. My gratitude to the faithful practitioner is very great, as is my gratitude to divine Love for the service our practitioners render to mankind everywhere.
My thankfulness to God, to Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, is indeed more than words can express. I am very grateful for The Christian Science Board of Directors and their inspiring loyalty and devotion in fulfilling our Leader's instructions. Also I am grateful to be a member of The Mother Church and one of its branches, and to have had the blessed experience of class instruction.—(Mrs.) Grace E. Epps, Los Gatos, California.
