Wishing to share with others the blessings that have come to me through Christian Science, I should like to express my gratitude for a healing of the smoking habit. At first after I became interested in this Science I was accustomed to reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, while smoking a cigarette. I never expected to be healed of that obnoxious habit—in fact, I did not even think that the habit was obnoxious.

One day I came across this statement in the textbook (p. 496): "Hold perpetually this thought,—that it is the spiritual idea, the Holy Ghost and Christ, which enables you to demonstrate, with scientific certainty, the rule of healing, based upon its divine Principle, Love, underlying, overlying, and encompassing all true being." The understanding of that statement freed me immediately from the smoking habit, although I had been used to lighting cigarettes on the street while waiting for transportation, burning holes in my clothing, and evidencing the ill temper, nervousness, and restlessness that beset the chain smoker. Thanks to this healing, I am today a happy, contented, and joyous student of Christian Science. I love church work and am kept busy doing my share in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist.

I should like to say how grateful I am for the help Christian Science has been to me in my profession. In my contact with children as a teacher of the violin I have observed much proof of Mrs. Eddy's statement (Message to The Mother Church for 1900, p. 9), "Sincerity is more successful than genius or talent." Children respond quickly to statements of truth which I voice to them.
