Some years ago, while talking...

Some years ago, while talking with a practitioner, I mentioned that I was manifesting heart trouble. She told me to make a study of the Christian Science Hymnal, paying particular heed to how often the word joy is used with the word heart. She also stated that a grateful heart is a joyous heart. It came to me that a heart filled with joy and gratitude could not at the same time be filled with trouble. This realization brought an instantaneous healing.

For six months I had a testing time in which an inharmonious condition of one of my arms did not yield to my understanding of Christian Science. The argument of pain was most persistent, and it was impossible for me to raise my arm above the level of my shoulder. During this time, however, there were other healings; and I prayed daily for more spiritual light regarding my arm.

Unaware of my predicament, a friend told me of an identical experience and added, 'It was certainly nothing to laugh at." When alone, that is exactly what I did. I laughed at the incongruity of error, or nothingness, trying to attach itself to God's man. Then my thought was flooded with gratitude for the truth that Christian Science teaches, and I realized that I did not have to be alarmed about a lie. I recalled that our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, indicates that we need not stand aghast at nothingness. I was immediately healed.
