"AND I WILL GIVE YOU REST"

These comforting words of the Master's bring peace to weary humanity (Matt. 11:28): "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Nearly two thousand years have passed since Christ Jesus gave voice to this divine utterance, yet today the truth of the comfort and promise contained therein is just as effective as then. It reaches across the supposed barriers of time and space and brings fresh promise of hope, joy, and rest to the heavy laden in every age.

Christ Jesus knew God to be infinite Mind, the only and omnipotent Being, to be infinite Spirit, Life, Truth, and Love. He realized that the man God created was and is the reflection of inexhaustible Mind, of tireless Truth; that he expresses ever-radiant Love, changeless substance, ceaseless good, and eternal Life. This understanding of man's true being enabled Jesus instantly to heal the sick, cleanse the sinner, and raise the dead. Our Master knew that this recognition of reality would give perfect and enduring rest to the honest seeker after Truth.

The teachings of Christian Science show how each one of us can gain the true understanding of God and His idea, man. As the image and likeness of God, man is sustained at all times and under all conditions in a perfect state of spiritual consciousness. He is never tired or exhausted, but, as the idea of inexhaustible Mind, is always rested, alert, active, indefatigable. No so-called material law or condition of matter can affect the life of the real man. One understanding this knows that right accomplishments are not the result of the action of a material body, but are due solely to his reflection in some measure of infinite Life, intelligence, divine Mind. This activity brings no false penalties, such as weariness or exhaustion, but only rich rewards of harmonious and achievements.
