RADIO PROGRAM No. 28 - Breaking the Barriers to Friendship

The account of healing on this program was given by Miss Evelyn Rollo of Glasgow, Scotland, who said:

I know from my own experience that an understanding of God removes limitations and opens up new fields of activity for us. When I was a teen-ager I used to worry because I didn't have any real friends and because I doubted if I could hold down any job that was at all interesting. The thing that limited and held me back was extreme shyness and nervousness. I wouldn't even do the shopping alone, as that meant meeting shopkeepers and business people.

I had been going to the Christian Science Sunday School for several years, but it was only when I sought an understanding of God for myself and began to put into practice what I'd been taught that I found the solution to the problem of shyness. At the university I had to study geology, philosophy, and other subjects that seem to challenge religious teaching—and this forced me to study Christian Science more closely and find out what I really believed. I found that as I learned more of God I had a clearer concept of man as being the image and likeness of God, reflecting all the godly qualities of intelligence, love, and completeness. I began to see myself as I really was—friendly, poised, and intelligent, instead of shy and uncertain.
