SPIRITUAL TRANSFORMATION
Christian Science teaches that in the universe of Spirit, divine Mind, spiritual ideas and their identities, motivated by the law or will of God, alone constitute creation. These ideas present a tangible, substantial creation to the Mind which conceives, perceives, and maintains them.
In Christian Science we learn also that material persons are not originators of anything. They manifest the false beliefs of mortal mind, not the pure thoughts of Spirit as expressed by man. Having this in mind, Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 234): "Sin and disease must be thought before they can be manifested. You must control evil thoughts in the first instance, or they will control you in the second."
Our work each day is to stand porter at the door of consciousness. Each one of us is charged with the responsibility of working out his own salvation, through progress, mentally and spiritually. Our work is to exercise righteous judgment between good and evil thoughts, true and false, which knock for admission at the door of individual consciousness. The thoughts accepted by the individual constitute his present apparent entity or identity. The separation between good and evil thoughts will go on in individual consciousness as long as it comes under the classification of human. Human consciousness will increase in spirituality until the mortal element disappears and immortal spiritual consciousness is seen to be the one and only consciousness.
