In the Manual of The Mother Church...

In the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy we read (Art. VIII, Sect. 24): "'Glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's' (St. Paul). Testimony in regard to the healing of the sick is highly important. More than a mere rehearsal of blessings, it scales the pinnacle of praise and illustrates the demonstration of Christ, 'who healeth all thy diseases' (Psalm 103:3)." Through our testimonies we have an opportunity to show forth our gratitude to God for the demonstrations of healing we have had.

Of the many healings in Christian Science that I have had one stands out, and I should like to share it. One night I suffered an accident in which I severely injured my arm. At first I felt myself losing consciousness, but I declared the truth; and with a great effort I got to the telephone and called a practitioner. In a few words I told her the trouble, and she replied, "We both know that you are upheld by the arm of the Lord." She promised to do some work, and I managed to get upstairs to my room.

For three hours I lay thinking about man's oneness, or unity, with God. Suddenly I felt as if I were entirely apart from a physical body. The spiritual illumination was so great that my room seemed alight with it. In the morning the arm was discolored, but I was able to move it; and I went about my work as usual. Before long the arm was all right again.
