"Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart" (Ps. 37:4). From early childhood my desire has been to serve God and to understand the Christ-healing. I began the earnest study of Christian Science during the First World War. I am very grateful for the protection it brought during the so-called influenza epidemic at that time.

When I was left with a large family of small children and no material means of support, the way seemed dark before me; but I knew that I could trust God to care for His own. There were many opportunities to prove His loving care and healing power. Among the physical healings in my family were those of scarlet fever, chicken pox, mumps, measles, influenza, and colds. When my little son's fingers were crushed by a cogwheel, help from a Christian Science practitioner was obtained. The child was soon relieved of suffering and went to sleep. The flesh and nails grew back on his fingers in the space of a few weeks.

Our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, says (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 307): "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies. Never ask for to-morrow: it is enough that divine Love is an ever-present help; and if you wait, never doubting, you will have all you need every moment." This truth was proved in my experience when through our desiring to be guided rightly the older children and I were led to work that met our need. Our home, although humble, was maintained; and the children's books and all other necessities were provided for their schooling.
