I am impelled to express my gratitude for Christian Science after many years of experiencing its healing and redemptive power. One of the blessings bestowed upon me was that of an instantaneous healing while I was attending for the first time a Sunday morning service in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist.

Not long before, I had witnessed the quick healing of a guest in my home when she applied to a practitioner for help. I thereupon had determined to try Christian Science myself if an occation should arise. The occasion came when I suffered a severe throat infection. As soon as I could elude the loving family supervision, which was after several days of illness, I got out of bed, dressed, called a cab, and left word that I was going to church. When I arrived at the church, the first hymn was being announced. It was the "Communion Hymn" by Mary Baker Eddy (Poems, p. 75).

Seated in a rear pew, I was much impressed by the wholehearted singing of the congregation, and as I read the words of the hymn they seemed especially to fit my need. Forgetting my pain and weakness, I gave close attention to the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, the subject of which was "God the Preserver of Man." In the short explanatory introduction it was announced that the sermon was divinely authorized. This was soon quite evident to me, for considering the vastness of the Bible, from which the Scriptural quotations on the subject were selected, I was amazed at the apt and arresting lines that had been chosen for this sermon.
