Christian Science is truly the Comforter promised by Christ Jesus, and I am grateful to the Discoverer and Founder of this Science, Mary Baker Eddy, for enabling us to make this fact practical. Some years ago when I was troubled and unhappy I turned as a last resort to Christian Science and commenced a consecrated study of the Bible and of Mrs. Eddy's writings, both prose and poetry, as well as a study of the authorized periodicals. Also I began to attend services in a Church of Christ, Scientist. Later I went to see a practitioner. I shall never forget the wonderful sense of joy and wonder which poured into my heart as she told me about my real being as God's child, beautiful, pure, sinless, and free.

As I continued my earnest study the resulting understanding of God and of man as His idea, together with the help of the practitioner, brought many changes into my affairs. I stopped taking medicine, which I had been told I should always have to take to keep well, and my health continued to improve until the inharmonious physical condition was healed. The smoking habit, colds, backaches, severe pains, nervous exhaustion, and painful results of several accidents were all overcome. Wonderful protection and guidance in daily living have been manifested through my application of the teachings of Christian Science.

Quite unexpectedly I was dismissed from a fine position because of the management's decision to curtail expenses. I immediately called a practitioner for help so that I would not yield to self-pity, fear, and kindred beliefs. The practitioner reminded me that man lives and moves and has his being in God, as the Bible says, and that therefore I was always in my right place. She also called my attention to many pertinent references in the Bible and in the writings of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy. As I continued to study these and other helpful passages and to follow the guidance that resulted, I was led to a position which has proved very harmonious and profitable.
